Bonjour

ar-ba-tra-zhur

Nestled in the heart of Wellington's CBD, Arbitrageur Wine Room & Restaurant is a city institution serving up food from the wine growing areas of the world married with one of the best wine lists in the country.

Warm and welcoming, Arbitrageur occupies a beautiful high-ceiling space off busy Featherston Street, decorated with New Zealand art and, above all, wine! Ask for a cellar tour - our 600+ bottle 'cave des vins' occupies an ex-bank vault in the restaurant and speaks to our commitment to bring customers the best accompaniment to our menu.

Open Monday through Friday from noon (Saturday from 6pm), whether it be for tapas and antipasti with a glass of Pinot, or a wine-matched menu, join our regulars and enjoy what they do about Arbitrageur Wine Room & Restaurant.

A bientôt!

Summer of Riesling 2012

................................................................................................

The Summer of Riesling is a worldwide movement that encourages the consumption, discussion and enjoyment of Riesling.

This year Arbitrageur is pleased to be participating in New Zealand's very own Summer of Riesling.

Keep your eyes out for our special menus, completely dedicated to enjoying Rieslings with our excellent European styled cuisine.  We will be offering wine matches with dishes and a large selection of Rieslings available by the glass to enjoy quite simply on their own.

Now that we have the summer weather, its the perfect time to enjoy a glass or two of crisp Riesling.  Whether you like them sweet or dry or are not even sure, we are here to introduce and advise on this fabulous wine!

Greywacke wines at Arbitrageur

.............................................................................................

Greywacke, who doesn't like a bit of wacky?

Since his early days as an iconoclast surfer, photo-snapper; Kevin Judd has played an instrumental role in shaping New Zealand's wine industry as co-founder of the historic Cloudy Bay winery and pioneer of winemaking in Marlborough. One of the last of the old guard to part ways with Moët Hennessy, Kevin is joined by several of his ex-Cloudy Bay team in creating his personal vision of Marlborough: Greywacke. He picks his fruit mainly from Ivan Sutherland's organic vineyards in the Brancott and the Wairau, including one of Marlborough's Pinot Noir Grand Cru sites, Yarrum Vineyard on the western slope of the Brancott. His rendition of Yarrum Pinot Noir is easily the finest. Jancis Robinson MW OBE recently proclaimed Greywacke's Sauvignon Blanc 2011 a
s the most exciting Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc she had tasted to date - and we are inclined to agree!

In celebration of Kevin's third vintage, we are pouring by the glass his 2010 Sauvignon Blanc; the very rare, naturally-made 2009 Chardonnay; ethereal and mysterious 2009 Pinot Noir; and the almost-not-made 2009 Late Harvest Gewürztraminer which he rescued from a vineyard at the end of harvest! We are also offering by the bottle, Kevin's 2009 Wild Sauvignon (a continuation of the Te Koko project which he started almost two decades ago), and a brilliant, effortlessly aromatic 2010 Riesling. An unparalleled opportunity to try the exciting new wines from one of our legends of wine before they become too difficult to find.

A little bird hinted that he might also loan us a few wonderful canvas prints of his photography which many of you will recognise by style from his books; including The Colour of Wine, and Wine Dogs.
